  • Krowji Studios 115 West Park Redruth, England, TR15 3AJ United Kingdom (map)

A very Special guest

I am pleased to announce that Master woodblock print maker Motoharu Asaka will be visiting studio 115 at Krowji. He will lead a one-day workshop in the beautiful craft of Moku-Hanga.

Join woodblock print maker Adrian Holmes @ Studio 115 for this a rare opportunity to be taught by Japanese woodblock Artist Motoharu Asaka

During this one day workshop you will create your own small woodblock print using traditional water-based Japanese woodblock printing techniques.
Learn from a master ukiyoe carver who has studied in a tradition stretching back 400 years. Motoharu Asaka is one of a handful of people left who are traditionally trained in this craft. This is a rare opportunity to learn master skills and try woodblock printmaking for yourself.
Asaka apprenticed for 17 years, but you can pick up the basics in this intensive workshop!

Asaka will be accompanied by Louise Rouse, adjunct professor in the art program at Temple University, Japan. She will interpret into English. If you require interpretation into another language please contact us to arrange.

This workshop is receiving funding from the European Social Fund as part of the Cultivator project and will be free. Places are limited to 8 participants. Due to the huge interest for this workshop places will fill up very quickly so apologies if you don’t get a spot this time.
